Kusadasi Marina

Kusadasi is one of the most beautiful cities facing the Aegean Sea since the scenery and landscape of the area is just as fascinatingly beautiful as its history. It has been a center of art and culture not only of Turkey but also of many civilizations since it was founded in 3000 B.C. Today, it resembles a modern European city.

Kusadasi is only 6 km. to the the Conference Hotel

PROGRAM

Start with a drive to the top of Mount Pagus which rises above the city center. Enjoy the panoramic views of the city and Bay of Izmir from the walls of Kadifekale, an ancient fortress built by Alexander the Great. Visit the city's symbol, its Ottoman Clock Tower. Finally, penetrate its elaborate bazaar (one of my favorites in all of Turkey) which stretches for blocks.

Kadifekale (on Mt. Pagos)

Kadifekale (or ‘Velvet Castle’) was supposedly built after Alexander the Great received a vision in the 4th century BC. Many antiquities belonging to the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman times found here can be seen in the İzmir Archeology Museum.

Kemeraltı, İzmir’s Old Bazaar

Kemeraltı is the crowded trade area where Ottoman-style buildings abound. This area has a rich cultural heritage thanks to its old streets, squares, historical and religious buildings. Spice, candy, and textile shops which have been passed from generation to generation are still satisfying customers from all over the world.

Hisar Mosque (1592), Kestane Bazaar Mosque (1663), Kemeraltı Mosque (1671), Kızlarağası Inn (1741), Konak Yalı Mosque (1754), Ethnography Museum (1831), The Clock Tower (the symbol of the city for over one hundred years) are among the multicultural elements that have decorated the city for hundreds of years.

Ephesus remains a sacred site for Christians due to its association with several biblical figures, including St. Paul, St. John the Evangelist and the Virgin Mary.

The House of the Virgin Mary, located in a nature park between Ephesus and Seljuk, is believed to be the last residence of the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. The peaceful site is sacred to both Christians and Muslims, and is visited by many tourists and pilgrims.
